A learning management system (LMS) is a software program that combines all or most of the functions needed to teach in an online environment. It often contains a Student Information System (SIS) which contains student information such as grades, personal information, and sometimes payment systems. It provides a cohesive place where classes can be developed, content given, testing administered, grades and progress documented, tracked and reported, and communication between members takes place. This happens in a secure environment that allows different members access to different parts of the system and assigns rights at different levels. This document takes a look at the roles and responsibilities of the people who are involved in a LMS
